Prof. Min Jo Kim

Min Jo Kim, principal clarinetist of Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra, holds a Bachelor of Music from Korea National University of Arts in Korea, a diploma from Stuttgart musikhochschule, Konzertexamen from Hamburg musikhochschule in Germany, and was a student of Prof. Vladimir Skolov, Prof. Kwang-Ho Oh, Prof. Norbert Kaiser, and Prof. Thomas Franke.

While at the Korea National University of Arts, he successfully auditioned for the Asian Youth Orchestra and has toured Europe for 3 months with conductor Sergiu Comissiona. He played with the Hamburg Symphoniker and Pecs orchestra in Hungary, and attended the J.M World Orchestra while in Germany.

Min Jo Kim performs frequently throughout Korea and abroad with solo recital appearances at the Korea Art Center, Keumho art center, Youngsan art center in Seoul and in Beijing, Shen-yang, China. Among the chamber ensembles he has performed with are Muse wind orchestra, Seoul Solisten wind orchestra, Echo woodwind quintet, M woodwind quintet, and the Ensemble Allegro orchestra. Also, he has a role of conductor and music director of the Korea Clarinet Ensemble from 2014.

Prior to his appointment at Korea National University of Arts, Yon-Sei University, Chung-Ang University, Dong-Duk Women’s University, Sun-Hwa art middle and high school, he served on the clarinet faculties Gangneung-Wonju National University, Sung-Shin Women’s University, and Hyup-Sung University.
