Anastasia Schmidlin

With Silverstein, I find projection, flexibility, and a beautifully rich tone – in every context.

Swiss-Russian clarinetist Anastasia Schmidlin performs actively as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Her broad repertoire spans from classical to contemporary music, with performances praised for their technical brilliance and expressive depth. The Luzerner Zeitung described her playing as having a “fascinating tonal culture in all registers, a stupendous technique, and immense expressiveness,” calling her a musician with “star charisma.”

She is the principal clarinetist of the Ensemble Symphonique de Genève and a member of the contemporary ensemble Dissolution. She regularly collaborates with pianist Denis Zhdanov and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and argovia philharmonic. She has worked with renowned artists including Yuri Temirkanov, Heinz Holliger, and Dieter Ammann.

A prizewinner at several international competitions, she has performed at major festivals including the Lucerne Festival, Boswiler Sommer, and Davos Festival. She teaches clarinet and didactics at the Lucerne School of Music and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and also serves as an external expert at the Zurich University of the Arts.
