VIVACE Bb Clarinet Reed

About the profile:

Vivace is the perfect reed choice for players already comfortable playing a synthetic reed. Vivace is ideal for the soloist, orchestral or jazz player because it produces quick response with minimal effort. This reed is full of a vibrant, colorful sonority with less “cover” resulting in a more direct, clear and up-front sound.

Vivace plays with an equal projection to other reeds but also with a larger volume. Importantly, Vivace has a depth and complexity of tonal colors that affords the clarinetist interesting timbral choices.

The altissimo has been re-engineered, up to fourth-octave altissimo C, and competes with any reed on the market for clarity, response and intonation. With a high degree of flexibility, Vivace will respond in a robust manner to increases of intensity. Similarly, the reed’s greater dynamic range reduces to a clear whisper with minimal reed noise.

About the material:

  • Concert-ready warm and round sound with immediate response and clarity
  • Feels and plays like cane, not strange plastic
  • Rich harmonics over a full dynamic range
  • Clear altissimo
  • Secure articulation and intonation
  • Stable to temperature, humidity and altitude variation
  • Guaranteed consistency that does not gradually degrade with use
  • Absorbs and retains water for harmonic coherence
  • Perfectly customizable with your favorite reed tool
  • Mouth Safe synthetic material
  • Expected lifespan: 12+ months
  • Never splinters, no micro cracks
  • Pairs to your mouthpiece like cane; please refer to our “Quick Start Guide

I was becoming disenchanted with the Legere European Cut clarinet reeds, because they seem to have lost their claim to consistency. The Ambipoly 3 is a more resistant blow compared to the Legere 3, but in the highest register, the high C,D,E are easier to sound on the Ambipoly 3, and I think sound superior. I have an older Ambipoly 2.5+ but although it’s easier to blow, it’s harder to have consistent solid high register notes. It would be great to have something in between.

he reeds are great. The sound is wonderful and it feels consistent across all registers. One reed did come chipped, but the others have been great.

This is the reed I’ve always wanted, but didn’t think existed. I’ve been playing it for a few days, and am very pleased with the consistency of volume produced and embouchure required to play in all registers. I’ve been using mostly Vandoren V12 cane reeds, and have also tried Vandoren VK1 synthetic (a little hard to play) and Yamaha synthetic reeds (easy to play, but slightly plastic sound).
This Silversteirn Ambipoly Vivace seems ideal, but now I’m curious about the Maesta and Primo reeds, and will try them too.

  4. Eddie Rich (verified owner)

The reed is working well. It has the most cane-like sound of any synthetic reed I’ve tried.

I’ve been using them since they came out.

I was at an event that was selling these
How do you like the product? We appreciate your comment.: When I tried it at Troy it felt like a regular reed I have been liking for a synthetic reed for marching and it’s really good.

  7. Karen L Morris (verified owner)

I am very impressed by the Ambipoly clarinet reeds and the warranty. Please make it possible to register several reeds or other purchases by listing them on one page, rather than having to restart the registration for each item purchased.

  8. Ryan Smith (verified owner)

Was given a 2.5+ and liked the projection and tone quality. Wanted to try the 4 for more depth and better control of altissimo register.
