Alto Saxophone Jazz Reed

About the profile:

In the spirit of innovative disruption that has shaped music for centuries, Silverstein Works introduces the Ambipoly Jazz saxophone reed. Designed as an answer to current modern-cut reeds, the Ambipoly Jazz reed has a slightly thinner vamp and heart, with a subtly modified tip, giving the reed a crisp and lightning fast response, while maintaining a warm, intimate and inviting tonal signature. With tons of projection and power, whether your style is Bechet or Bird, Sanborn to Sun Ra, the Ambipoly Jazz has you covered.

I love it. The reed table is flat just like the tables on my saxophone mouthpieces. L*****’s tables are not flat and the reeds need to be sanded to seal adequately.

From the first moment I put on a Silverstein Alta Jazz reed I knew it was something special. I haven’t used any other reeds since that first time. It responds effortlessly in all registers and with an incredible dynamic range. It allows me to seamlessly go from the bottom of the horn into the altissimo and from a whisper to a roar! The tone is clean and focused. It sounds great acoustically as well as in the studio and on stage. It compliments any mouthpiece I’ve used it on and makes me feel like I’m having a “good reed day” everyday!

  3. Richie Cruz

I’m happy to have one less thing to worry about while perfecting my sound.

The Ambipoly #3 jazz alto reed is the right strength for me. Reed vibration is good along with tone quality.

  7. Bud Blevens (verified owner)

The reed is really good. Blows well. Good response.

  8. Aaron Martin

The Alta Jazz reed for tenor saxophone is fantastic! The ambipoly reed does not have the feel of a typical synthetic reed. In fact, it feels a lot like cane, and responds incredibly well. I am very impressed!

  9. Benn Sutcliffe (verified owner)

This is a fantastic sounding reed, easily the best synthetic I’ve tried on saxophone, and I’ve tried most of them.

  10. Benn Sutcliffe (verified owner)

Easily the best synthetic reed I’ve played on alto. The tonal balance compared to the Jazz cut is just right and it is a joy to play.
Everyone who has tried it has loved it too.
I need to get done for soprano now.

I love Silverstein Works Ambipoly reeds! Out of all the synthetic reeds I’ve tried (and I’ve tried many), Silverstein Works reeds have a feel that is almost like cane, and they sound fantastic. Consistency? Check! Solid customer service? Check! Finally, the six-month guarantee is a great addition. Thanks for creating a great product!

    Love these reeds!

My daughter was first given this type of reed to use, which came highly recommended by her instructor. She loves it so much that we are continuing with this next size up! Thank you for making such a great product and alternative to traditional wood reeds!
