Eric Begley is a promising young New Zealand clarinetist who is pursuing a professional career in classical music. Primarily as a soloist, Eric has performed and been a prizewinner/finalist in national and international competitions. Also an active orchestral musician, he participates in Conservatorium and Youth Orchestras, and Wind/Harmony Orchestras. Eric is currently a student of the highly acclaimed Belgian clarinet soloist, Roeland Hendrikx (former principal clarinet Belgian National Orchestra), completing a Master of Music degree in 2020 at Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands. Recently, he is also now a student of Olivier Patey (principal clarinet Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam). Eric’s former clarinet tutor during his undergraduate degree (2014- 2016) in Adelaide, Australia, was Dean Newcomb (principal clarinet Adelaide Symphony Orchestra).

Eric has performed in master-classes by Michael Collins, Philippe Berrod, Paul Meyer, Julien Hervé, Tibor Reman, Carlos Ferreira, Sérgio Fernandes Pires, Giuseppe Corpina and Michael Webster.
